GW, okay now I'm really scared

Just got back from the beach. There were 1-2 foot swells, which is a bit rough for the Long Island Sound but since the wind was blowing 15-20kts out of the NE over a 5 or so mile fetch, the surf was expected.
I happened to be standing by the lifeguard stand when a young women approached and asked why the waves were so high. The lifeguards gave an answer similar to what I wrote above, the women replied "Oh, I thought the high waves were due to global warming".
After she left, the lifeguards saw me laughing to myself. The senior guy, said "that's nothing, we get asked questions about global warming effecting everything from low tide to horseflies".
Maybe I need to get out more - I didn't realize things had gotten this bad.
Safe secure and livable, that terrors need to be invented.
