Who Is This Uniter?

For all the talk of Hope and Change, of uniting the people and doing away with traditional politics, it's clear that the candidate who talks most of those things is the one least prepared to engender them.
That brings us to the question: what would a Uniter look like? That is, what kind of candidate for president could bring the country together?
What follows is not what I want, but what I think would unite.
His outward appearance wouldn't matter much. Skin color wouldn't be important, as long as his upbringing was something in the normal range: farm kid, suburbanite, boy from the hood, military brat, or even an orphan.
He would probably speak passable Spanish.
He could, of course, be a her.
He'd be a veteran, and probably a combat veteran. He'd be strong on defense, but not a war hawk.
He'd be a Christian, but not a Creationist.
He might be a lawyer, but probably not a trial lawyer.
He'd be pro-life, but would favor the death penalty.
He'd talk fiscal conservatism, but would rail against waste, and not against any particular program.
He'd talk of lower taxes and holding the line on spending, but also about helping the needy. He'd say we should get the economy moving so people don't need to depend on the government.
He'd be a believer in compomise, but not a compromiser of beliefs.
He'd want judges who judged cases, not those who legislate from the bench.
Like I said, he's not necessarily who I would want, but he's who we've got.
And there's definitely a lot there to like.
