By The Fastest Squirrel
Until yesterday, there were three U.S. Service Members listed as Missing In Action in Iraq.
1. SGT Ahmed K. Altaie (Captured 11 DEC 2006)
2. SGT Alex R. Jimenez (Captured 12 MAY 2007)
3. SPC Byron W. Fouty (Captured 12 MAY 2007)
Now only SGT Altaie remains missing. The bodies of SGT Jimenez of Lawerence, MA and SPC Fouty of Torrence, CA were recovered by the U.S. military yesterday. There is little information available, but these soldiers of my beloved 10th Mountain Division (Light) will soon be in the care of their families, as they are currently in the care of God.

Posted at 10:18am on Jun. 26, 2008 SCOTUS Upholds 2nd Amendment! [Updated]
By The Fastest Squirrel
Apparently, the Supreme Court ruled today that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to have a gun. The Court, splitting 5-4, struck down a District of Columbia ban on handguns.
I'll update when I can find the opinion...
UPDATE: The opinion, written by Justice Scalia can be found here.
The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditional lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.

This is extrapolated from notes that I took at the time. I only wish that I had taken a little more time on the details.
It was pretty much a typical morning in Iraq. We had been up all night hunting tangos in "Saddam City" (now "Sadr City"). We had found a cache of Iraqi Top Secret documents with a large smoking pile of ashes in the center of a room. While I can't say precisely what they all said, a quick perusal of one of them had a lot to say about the French government and how they were involved with Saddam. We moved them all over to the the Exploitation TF and headed back toward the Green Zone to give some detailed info to the Iraq Survey Group.

By The Fastest Squirrel
According to the Huntsville Times, Representative "Blue Dog" Democrat Bud Cramer has decided to leave office. He has held "doggedly" to his seat for 18 years in an area that includes massive amounts of Defense and Space industry.
Clearly, this is an opportunity to grab a seat that is has been ready to go red for a long time.

No doubt everyone has, by now, heard of the idiotic Marines throwing a puppy off a cliff. I decided to write a blog about it only so the left can't say that we ignore bad stuff. Check out Blackfive for some commentary. I concur with Laughing Wolf... regardless if this was real or a prank, we have handed a victory to our enemies... both foreign and domestic.

Piggybacking on the growing number of wise blogs such as Gamecock's, I noticed that Drudge had a link to an issue that is near and dear to my heart. As we know, it appears that the Supreme Court will be hearing a 2nd Amendment case in the very near future.

By The Fastest Squirrel
Hey Guys and Gals. I need some advice about an upcoming Virgina State election. I live in Fairfax, VA (home to Tom Davis) and am having a tough time deciding about our State Senate race. This year we have Tom Davis’ wife, Jeannemarie Devolites-Davis, running as the Republican incumbent versus the Democratic candidate John “Chap” Peterson.

By The Fastest Squirrel
While perusing one of my daily reads, I came across this post by Representative Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI-11) discussing the troublesome acquisition of a large portion of 3M by China. He writes, in part:
The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) must review and block Bain Capital and communist China’s Huawei Technologies’ acquisition of a significant stake in the 3Com Corporation. If approved, Bain Capital and communist China’s Huawei Technologies’ stake in the 3Com Corporation will gravely compromise our free republic’s national security. The 3Com Corporation is a world leader in intrusion prevention technologies designed to protect secure computer networks from hacker infiltration. To date, the United States Department of Defense (DOD) extensively utilizes 3Com Corporation’s intrusion prevention technologies. Thus, in the wake of this year’s successful cyber warfare by the communist Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), in which they hacked into one of our DOD’s and one of the German Foreign Ministry’s computer networks, approving this sale would be an abject abnegation of CFIUS’ duty to protect America’s vital defense technologies from enemy acquisition.

I would like to say thank you to all those that responded to my post about my dilemma regarding my attendance of the Gathering of Eagles. You were uniformly correct in that I should take my son, so I did. We had a discussion about the differing values and my heart swelled at his innocence. “How” he wondered, “could someone hate America so much? People can do whatever they want… as long as they aren’t criminals.” This led into a much deeper discussion regarding the meaning of “irony.”
Indeed, the irony rising from the ANSWER crowd was as palpable as a humid summer’s day in the deep South. I realize that much of my observations were covered elsewhere... more eloquently... by smarter folks, but I’d like to share my humble experience with those of you who couldn’t attend.

[promoted by haystack because this is exactly the kind of thing we need to do in response to the lunatics that would see us fail for their own self-promotion...any that can attend should make every effort to stand by these brave men and women-fighting STILL for their brothers and sisters in arms.
And squirrel...I vote you take him with you.]
As many here know, I’m a (current) Special Forces veteran with over four years in combat (cumulative). I’ve been increasingly upset with the defeatist rhetoric and can speak for my fellow Operators when I say that we are absolutely disgusted. That being said… I live in the Northern Virginia area and will be taking part in the 17 March 07 Gathering of Eagles. If you haven’t heard about it, check them out below.

A couple of days ago, I had a brief encounter with a troll named "Proud Republican." The gist of it was that I mentioned that, as a vet, I was sickened that I bled for ungrateful louts such as himself. His response was that I must hate the 65% of Americans who want us to pull out.
Then he was banned (thanks Moe). Well, the interesting part is that I’ve been thinking about his response since it happened.

Holey smokes, I just got a copy of the agenda for the Democratic National Convention for 2008:

7:15 P.M. Pledge of allegiance to U.N.
7:30 P.M. Ted Kennedy proposes a toast.
7:45 P.M. Nonreligious prayer and worship led by Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton.
